Fu writes history at the Masters
A glorious first day here at Alexandra Palace from London, with Marco Fu defeating Stuart Bingham by a solid 6-3 scoreline in the first round of the 2015 Masters. And probably it wouldn't have been such a great victory without Fu hitting a beautiful 147 in the process.

Although the start of the match was a rather poor one, after the first two frames the lads being tight at one apiece, things changed dramatically when Marco hit the first serious break of the match (a 70 one to be more precise) to go 2-1 ahead.

Frame four kicked off in a very similar way, but Marco was in amongst the balls like no-one! He started building himself a nice break composed only of reds and blacks and in no time everyone present was short of a breath because this tremendous player from Hong Kong was cruising for the max.

An out-of-form Bingham
As the last ball entered into the left pocket, Marco Fu punched the air while the crowd exploded. This is his 3rd professional maximum break, but also the 3rd in the history of the Masters. Only Kirk Stevens (1984) and Ding Junhui (2007) managed to hit a perfect 147.

After the mid-session interval Marco continued his journey with a great 103 break, when suddenly Bingham decided to fight back.

The Englishman made a great 50 break in frame six and two solid runs of 56 (max attempt) and 54 to win the next one, before his opponent would perform another one of his special tons (103) to go 5-3 up.

Fu's delighted with his max

The last frame saw both players under a lot of pressure, both with chances to make a difference. In the end though, the better player closed the deal with a top break of 46. Marco Fu was the winner tonight.

The magical cue action continues tomorrow as it follows:

1pm
Judd Trump v. Stephen Maguire

7pm
Neil Robertson v. Robert Milkins

Below, you can check out Marco Fu's magnificent 147. Enjoy! ;-)
